pipefitters lic. in Ma.

I moved here from out of state licensed in gas fitting, refrigeration, and sheetmetal,I had to go before the board and request to take the test. I had already gotten my MA refrigeration and showed years of OJT, years of school, and they approved me. Do not go this route if you do not have overwhelming evidence that you are "ready" for the test. I witnessed many guys getting tore a new one before it was my turn in the hot seat, I may have been the only one there that got approved.
Now, to pass the test... :-)

Fitters license in Ma.
Is there a way to obtain a fitters license in Ma. with out having to do an apprenitceship? I have been a licensed plumber for over 10 years and didnt know if it was possible to just take the test. I have called the state and couldnt get a straite answer. Does the same hold for fire protection? Any guys in Ma. who have both licenses?

examing board
did you call the examining board ? i am in nyc but had occasion to call mass. board a few years past & they were extremely helpful. hooked me up with a master plumber i had not seen in thirty years. good luck0 -

gives good advice to contact the licensing board but darned if I know which one it is. You should be able to Google Massgov.com and look it up.
All licensed plumbers were grandfathered in (gave mine up years ago) by just applying but that time frame passed. I do believe you can apply to take the exam without taking the apprenticeship but again check with the board.
Good luck,

Pipefitters license
You should go to Mass.gov and go to the Department of public safety. There is a link for pipefitters.

Licensing
about ten years ago or so, plumbers could do pipe fitting and fire protection. Both changed and there was a grand father clause. I was not a member of a trade association then and did not know of the change until it was to late. At a minimum you typically have to show sufficient experience in the trade and test.

MA Gov
If you cut & paste the following website addresses they should bring you to the MA State pages of interest. Make sure you get the whole address, they are long. One at a time:
