My son-in-law the engineer

My son-in-law is a mechanical engineer who like so many other people just got laid off.
If you take a moment to review the attached resume and letter, I think you'll agree that Mike has some outstanding credentials and accomplishments. I realize more companies are cutting staff than hiring these days, but this is a guy who would be an asset to a lot of companies in good times and bad.
Please pass this along to any engineering contacts you have who might take an interest in him. He'd prefer to stay in the Chicago area, but relocation is not out of the question.
Thanks,

Out West
Have they ever thought of moving out west to an old mining town? I have no insider knowledge, but a local company just announced they had their best year yet in 2008.
BTW, the V60 was a great phone.0 -
He may have to change careers or move to India or China. How much does a engineer of his caliber get paid in the Chicago area?0 -
Jim - Tell your son-in-law to take a look at Monster Dot Com.
http://www.monster.com/
I asked my daughter, who is a "headhunter" in the biotech business, where would someone in engineering look for a job and she suggested "Monster Dot Com". She says that now many companies, large and small, post there when they are looking to fill a vacancy or just for "trolling" to see if someone comes along they might be interested in.
Good luck!

Thanks for the leads
I appreciate the leads, guys, in particular the one from Andrew plugging Resodyne. This does sound like a company that could utilize Mike's talents. I passed it along to him.
I've never asked him how much he makes, but I'm pretty sure it's into six figures.0 -
Jim, here is a link to a company that is seriously growing and
I thought might be a perfect fit. https://rim.taleo.net/careersection/professional/jobsearch.ftl?lang=en

Engineer
I meet many college educated people who are surprised at how much money I make as a small HVAC company owner(1 man operation). Too many people go to college and overlook going into a trade. I make over 6 figures and have no fear of my job going to India. Hate to say it but engineering jobs are hard to come by in the US.0
