316 L stainless venting

I was given a piece of info today that I need to have verified. I was told that GAMA pulled its rating on 316L stainless steel as a vent for category IV appliances. I went to the Protech site and read the AL29-4C blue paper on vent materials, page 6 being the operative chart.

I did not see any info on that site pertaining to the rating on 316L but if it is true, I need to know. Does anyone have any info with regard to this?

Thanks,
Henry

The alloy of steel isn't the issue: it is the vent or lining system and its listing. Any venting for Cat. IV must be listed to UL 1738. The only liner listed to 1738 is a new liner by Protech, which is 316Ti.Ordinary liners listed to UL1777 are not tested for positive flue gas pressure.

is this posted somewhere and how did you find out about this? Secondly, will 316L make the cut and this is just a clerical issue or is 316L inferior? I read teh Allegheny Ludlum blue paper and it is specific in identifying the issues associated with other alloys.

Will this be an issue for boilers?
