Sizing expansion tanks for methonal solutions

Tom, they (loop contractors) have not been concerned on any of the jobs we've done about the need of or lack of expansion tank or air elimination.

That said, I have seen significant deviations of pressure in the loop depending on whether it was in rejection or reclamation mode.

The tubing does expand when it is heated, and contracts when it is cooled.

My gut says if you size it as if it were 30% propylene glycol, you will be fine, because they usually don't do any thing at all.

Not sure if there is a chart with that solution, because GSHP is the only place I've ever seen alcohol used as an antifreeze. Too flammable for other conventional applications.

Expansion Tank sizing for methonal solutions

looking for expansion tank sizing info for methonal solutions in geothermal applications.
Specific volume (sat. liquid) charts like ASHRAE Fundementals 6.3 for methonal at different temperatures.
What are people using if not the above. Safety Factors?

As ME said, nothing is usually done so anything would be an improvement. I've been sizing as 100% water and have not seen the pressure deviate more than a couple of pounds.
