High Manganese in water, any suggestions?

We had our water tested after we started noticing a metallic smell and taste, plus the water turns reddish brown if you add clorox to it...readings were for 3 times the normal levels of Manganese - not a health threat we were told, just "aesthetic". Well, doggone, it's a mightly big pain in the rear, and it stinks and it's clogged all the toilets so they take years to flush....sigh.
Didin't want to put in a softener (hate the feeling and the salt). We are on a well - live in the country in upstate NY. Lots of iron nearby, but not in our water...

water right equipment
Water Right equipment will do the job but you gotta use the regular salt blocks, never, ever, use rust removal salt or rust remover in ther equipment. Get on their website and they will help you selecting the right equipment.

Here's a site with a lot of information on it about the different ways you can deal with iron/manganese in your water.
