Powder Coating Steam Radiators? Help!! ( please please please)

Hello! I've read the threads on painting radiators, and am calling out for any additional opinions on powder coating old cast iron radiators...the specific question:

HAVE ANY OF YOU HEARD FOR CERTAIN IF, AFTER POWDER COATING A STEAM RADIATOR, THERE ARE ANY FUMES/SMELLS after RE-INSTALLATION?

We are very sensitive to these smells, and are trying to find the best solution which appears to be powder coating...but if you have personally tried or have customers that have used powder coating to refinish iron radiators...we really appreciate hearing from you whether it eliminated partially or completely eliminated the "off gassing" paint-type smells.

    Thank you!

    Powder Coating 101

    Ellis:
I manage a manufacturing company that powder coats a majority of our products. FYI, powder coating is not a traditional painting process, it does not contain any volatile solvents or binders that could cause odors at elevated temperatures. The powder is generally polyester (plastic), that is fused to the product in a curing oven at 400 - 450° F. The fusion of the powder to the product produces the desired surface finish. You should NOT experience any smell from a properly processed powder coated product, such as a radiator. There's no way your heating system will approach the temperatures needed to cause any breakdown of the polyester.
