H.B.Smith stopping production

Options
If I may shed some light on this subject, HB Smith has been machining and assembling the boilers that are sold as "Smith Cast Iron Boilers", for nearly the past18 years.

That HB Smith plant will be shutting down, because they’re adding a new building, and new machining equipment at their Boyertown Foundry location. It’s expected this new modernization of this facility will keep the Smith Cast Iron Boilers and all their models as you currently know them alive and well! The production facility is simply moving from Westfield to Boyertown.

I confirmed this information with a close friend and representative of Smith Cast Iron Boiler Company.

Your friend in the industry,
Alan R. Mercurio

    H.B. Smith stop production @westfield.

In the news locally today that H.B.Smith is stopping producing boilers. At least at Westfield Ma. (do they make them anywhere else?)

Don't want to start any unfounded rumors so check details for yourself, but in the news article it seemed to say that HB Smith wanted to get out of the boiler business. That they might sell this part to someone else if they could find a buyer. They said the reason for closing the plant was the general economy. So Idunno. Check emerging information that will unfold in a few days.

I am sorry to see them going as I liked the idea of them being made just down the turnpike from me. The ironic thing is they are the one boiler line I find hardest to find a distributer for here. I know there number one distributer in my region. I just never found their number two. My girlfriends house has a H.B. Smith steam system complete from the day they got central heat including a Smith snowman (102) and Smith steam radiators. There is even an old hot water generator in the steam main, now disconnected though.
