Sounds like a lime filled boiler> Have you had any water leaks or releif valve spills. If it is lime the boiler needs to be cleaned with tri sodium phosphate!

Weird bubbling sound
My boiler has a loud bubbling sound on start up, once and awhile. This also accompanied with a small water hammer. I have had the boiler cleaned with a chemical for Comstar steam clean, which is still a bright green after a weeks, could the pH of the water be off or something else.0
