Dielectric union

but the Super, GC, and prints call for dielectric unions. And I do not believe they will withstand the constant steam pressure required for the heating elements. I don't know, steam through rubber gaskets/washers?

Dielectric Union
Has any one used dielectric unions on steam lines? Our super has directed us to use 1-1/4" dielectric unions on the steam supply and return. Can't help but wonder how the rubber washer/gasket will fare?0 -
if EPDM...
If it's EPDM it should be fine w/ either hot water or low pressure steam.0 -
why?
Why use them in first place?0 -
Not My Idea
Because the Print & the GC say that's what goes there. It is a 3" riser feeding 1" heating elements. I would use a dielectric nipple, if anythying. But it is there show.0 -
dielectric

Would a dielectric flange set up work for you? This would also give you flexibility with picking a gasket having the proper rating
