It gets serviced every year

I went with a becket as the service companys are well versed in them in my area. The AFG model. It was not the nicest install I have done as it was a rush but I have a pic of it. They never look as good as if you can clean out the foot print of the old boiler first. I had to pipe tjis one and slide it in after I cut loose the old one. Da does not like the expansion take on the return but I figured I would try it on this one. The indirect was installed last summer as well problem clogged the old amtrol unit they had.
Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

wish I had a nickle
How many times have you heard that the unit you are working on just got serviced by another company earlier that year only to find it in this condition when you show up?Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

But it only cost $50 for the service.
Did I get what I paid for?0 -
That oil company
was taking their money.
Is that a Weil-McLain 68 or Gold boiler?

Charlie
Rudy Leatherman and I go back a few years. I was taking his classes when visuals where on 35mm slides.
I run into this stuff all the time. I worked for a guy who told us not to mess with a unit. "Just go down to the basement and make noise and run the shop vac.", he and I no longer do business together.
The nice thing about being to old to make someone else money is I can still do enough work to support myself.
Like you I service the unit and not the customer's check book.
Just a thought do Doctors and Dentists have sites like the one Dan H provides here?0 -
It is a burnham three section.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

I have the good fortune to work with my father Mark. If I did work like these guys do he would still take me behinf the wood shed. I am well past the age of being spanked so it would be a fist to the head. The same folks for 26 years serviced this unit and sold her oil. I replaced this unit with a Trio from F.W. Webb anyone else use these units?Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

I am sure Dan H would have
some as the branch is bent wisdom here.
Charlie I started with oil in the mobile home business in 1975, see what happened. I still give the customer what they deserve 100% of my training and ability.
I knew I liked you.0 -
The Trio is a Biasi-based unit
like the Solaia and others. Nice boiler. Which burner did you use? Do you have any pics of the install?

Service
The only "service" that customer received was the same type of "service" a bull provides to a cow.0 -
What Brand of Expansion Tank
Is that an Amtrol or Extrol expansion tank? If it is, it is mounted upside down. Ask your father.0 -
Yep,,,
I sure have...
Didn't take pics of the one I saw just recently but the horizontal part of the 8" flue going into the chimney was something on the order of 90% blocked by soot and debris. How these units continue to run like this is beyond me.0 -
please explain why it makes difference on a diaphram tank which end is up? The large commercial units we use are actually orient the way the one in the picture is.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

I don't remember
seeing anything about mounting position in the I&O of the last tank I installed... of course, they say the memory is the second thing to go......
As long as it's properly supported, and the instructions don't say not to mount it that way, I would think that tank is fine the way it is.
