Dysfunctional system repairs now account for 30-40% of the business this past year.

    Anybody can do this??

I've seen more poor intalls this past week that exemplify why DIY's should carefully consider their ability to install a hydronic system using an internet supply company. In this case, the seller of the equipment, was also local. The system has 3 temperature requirements: in-slab; staple-up and radiators. The radiator zone and staple up were connected to the same pump and the high temps warped the floors. The "near-boiler" piping is simply wrong. Sawzallectomy.

As my Da says "If they did it right what would you be doing today?" I had a customer and class mate and friend of the family insist he was going to run his own tubing for radiant heat. He also bought his distibution panel online pre made from some place out west. It looked pretty I will admit and the tubing, Onix, was hung nice and straight. the thing was where he had the manifolds was 10 to 30 feet from the distibution panel. He also was told he did not have to double up his loops for the half wall height in from the outside wall as it said in the I&O. Well they were right he did not have to, but he now has to run 170 plus degree water to heat through his floor. Also what the manifold cost to ship and the cost of the parts was considerably more than I would have charged to install the related piping and controls had it been from scratch. Well happy sawzalling. and at least you can save the good name of radiant heating in the end.
Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.
