New Boiler Savings

Do you recall the boiler project we spoke about in Denver?
Four Storey apartment buildings with 1 pipe HRT boilers?
Well, I am happy to report both systems have been operating since late October @ 6 ounces of pressure. We have experienced the coldest winter in 8 years - 3.5 weeks of -25 to -38 -- wind chills as low as -50. Other than a few "cool suite problems", (primarily as a result of missing radiation), the three month fuel savings average has been 38.5%. Gotta love those W/M boilers and Riello modulating burners with Siemens controllers.
THANK YOU to you and Dan for all the knowledge and expertise to make this project the reality I only thought it could be!

THe boiler
is a W/M 688 with a Riello RS 50 burner and Siemens RWF 40 controller.
It took a fair amount of tweaking because every thing is designed for pounds pressure. Even the Riello tech did not think it could be done ... but with his expertise on understanding the operational parameters of the controller, I was able to keep dialing it down to where I wanted. I would still like to get the pressure lower but with a .3 pound operating pressure the modulating threshold is really tight. Once the boiler starts producing steam (about 8 mins from a cool start) the burner dials itself back to about 55% of rated input and stays there. AS it stands right now all of the rads get hot in about 20 mins of running. I know that can be improved upon by improving the venting. but everyone is happy with the result.0
