sweet odor fr radiators or furnace?

in THE MAIN WALL
Yesterday the landlord put plastic on all windows. Visiting friends last night noticed an odor. I also noticed it about an hour after the landlord finished putting up the plastic. It's the same odor I noticed last year after plastic was put on the windows. Is this odor dangerous? Is it from the furnace (natural gas) or the old radiators? Any help greatly appreciated.

    but from the new plastic over the windows.
