three months of free advertising to all pros, but very few take me up on my offer. I've never been able to figure out that one.

Where have all the professionals gone?

What do you do when you can't find any professionals, at least not on the Find a Pro section? I'm looking to try a really good professional in the Adirondack's section of New York State. Does anybody know any?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Dan I actually took you up on your offer and received a total of one call. and that call was a no go. I feel in the smaller areas people do not go to internet for there heating and plumbing service. I think in the larger areas people are more frequently online looking for services.

    Hi Dan,

Yours is a great deal on the find a pro banner. No doubt it would pay for itself. I suppose many of the potentials may rely on plumbing first, heating second. As for me, I'm certain it would increase my business and I'm afraid of that(?!) I do steam and only (few exceptions) steam 7 or 8 months of the year, and other things for the remainder. I'm at the point where if I were to advertise, I would have too much work for one person and an as needed helper. Then I'd have to have more help including what to do with them for several months of the year. I've been there once in another field and would not do it the same way again. Yet I'm so tempted to press the "sign up" button at times!

I was happy to try the offer it just seems many folks around here simply go with there fuel supplier or the plumber their neighbor uses and to be honest there is plenty to be done repairing installation gone wrong, It is nice to get in and do it right first for a change instead of sawzalling and repiping as the second one in the door. There seems to be a change as the economy slows down people are being more careful about going with the low bidder. It is hard at times explaining how a small shop and a fairly young looking person can do a better installation than the large fuel company with its fleet of trucks.

    Not close enough

Well I'm glad we have those professionals here in New York, but he is pretty far away from me. I'm between Plattsburgh and Malone and there isn't anybody here who specializes in steam anymore.

    Ads

    Dan
I agree with Terry.People ask me I don't advertise, I tell them "I'm afraid it will work". I'm also a 1 man shop, I have 3 loyal contractors and then the rest is referrals. Is it short sighted, probably.
