y pattern check valves on steam systems

My customer had me order him some 1" y pattern flapper type check valves for his autoclave systems. He asked me a question that I do not think I have ever been asked. Why use it instead of a straight through type flapper check? What is the advantage? I know it is not a glamourous subject, but I couldnt answer him other than thinking maybe its easier in some applications to repair.? But they are on all his steam lines and I want to make sure that him using a standard check valve (steam rated) would not cause problems in the future. Any help yall can give would be appreciated. Thanks-

The wye pattern
flapper check has a removable bonnet which allows you to replace the flapper and seat, if I gather the terminology correctly. Most commercial grade check valves we specify have this feature.
Also the wye pattern has lower pressure drops than the lift type. Both have removable caps for servicing the seat and clapper.
