Yes please search the forum as many posts cover this. also check the I&O manual as it probably says iron only in it.

    steam riser

recently a company installed a new steam boiler in a relatives house and used copper pipe for the riser(I know the correct way is black pipe with a swing joint)can anyone confirm that copper is accepted thru BOCA code? And has anyone seen a definite problem down the road with leakage at the soldered joints on the riser?
    thanks for your input
