    droping the water-line

I have a job with a steel tube boiler (steam). the boiler has a very small steam chest and is piped to the old header-less riser. I would think under this boiler is the old one and so is the best place for the for the water-line. All of the classic mastakes have been made on this job and forthe last few years it has been worse as per the owner. Being one of Dan's decipales I started with the pressuretrol and venting. Another thing i want to do is drop the feeder to give me a little more A dimention (loose the street 90's on the 47). What i am asking is that i really like to lower the feeder even more to make for a better steam chest and more A dimention, enough to put the top row of tubes above the water-line. I'm sure that the boiler will still make steam less those tubes, but will i cause other problems? thanks tommyc

    Water lines

are established by the manufacturer for a reason. If you want a new boiler .... exposing tubes is a good place to start.
    Don't do it!
