As long as it's closed loop, black iron is good. I start off most of my gas boiler installs with black pipe because it's quicker and cheaper to put in black tees for low water cutoff, temp gauges, boiler fill, bleed drains, air vents, etc.

Black fittings for Munchkin
I have an install tommrow (replacing an in warrenty Munchkin 399) I have accumlated everything needeed as far as fitting as long as its ok to mix copper and steel. I want to start at the boiler with black fittings to my pump then switch over to copper to complete the primary/secondary loop. Boiler being used for closed loop heating only. Ok right?
thanks
