the wall
I first want to say that this thread is not to upset or make any one mad, just to make a comment.
I recently did a job for a homeowner and at the same time priced out a job for his neighbor. Both lived in older homes and almost the exact same in floor space and layout. The houses were built by a father and son, which they lived in for several years.
I installed a small boiler for radiant heat, installed
a instant hoter heater with some solar panels and some mixing valves and two storage tanks, a towel warmer ( which the homeowner's wife loves ). Installed 3 split dual minis for cooling.
Thank goodness for taco pumps, valves and pex pipe.
I set the solor panels up using a mixing valve and a few controls for most of the potable hot water needs ( bathing and washing clothes only. I set the instant water heater up for the dishwaser and faucets.
Now the other homeowner settled with another contractor just using 18 seer heatpumps and a conventional nat gas water heater. Now the house I did constanly uses less gas, less power consumption. His new hardwood floors look just like new after 2 years of normal wear and tear. The other homeowner has had constant mold issues and his wood floors installed by the same man and flooring company started squicking and buckling in a few places.
Now my point is, I could not have done all this work with out having a knowledge of wet heat. Which I have picked up tons of knowledge and tips from this very wall.
You never can re inevnt the wheel but you can change colors, maake it wider and even put some fancy rims on it. Guess what legend it is still a wheel. Just my 2 cents worth.
