Ask your supply house
My local supply house used cut them to length for me...
I eventually bought the tool just to have it around the shop.
But in a Pinch, It never hurts to ask for a demo of the special tool ;-)
If you don't need it right away, you could send the glass my way, I'll cut it and send it back... but the postage might equal the cost of the tool.

Use a Metal File
Take a new stick of glass. File just across where you want to cut. Just across the rise no need to go around. Use the corner of the file to cut a V cut. Now hold the glass in both hands , thumbs in, filed cut away from you and snap the glass outward.
You did say trim ? I could never cut just a inch off. Need a full stick.
I alway bring into the house two sticks of glass. I don't know why but if I bring in two I make a perfect cut. I bring in just one it breaks wrong and I run for another ?There was an error rendering this rich post.
