steam header takeoff from 2\" to 4'

I have recently installed a new steam boiler with a proper drop header installed. The original piping is like an octopus and am trying to consolodate a little of it. I have traced the piping and I should be able to use 2" piping for the takeoffs ( the header that is) on 2 of the 3 pipes. My question is can I run a 2" pipe off my header roughly 15 ft. which then jumps up to an exsisting 4" pipe or will I have major problems. It looks like the old plumbers ran two 2" takeoffs to the 4" pipe when they originaly retrofitted the steam system 30 years ago but the header piping is completely incorrect on the old boiler. I just dont know if I will have problems if I run only 1 2" takeoff to the exsisting 4" pipe. Any input would be helpful. thanks

sounds like a question for Brad
MAYBE YOU SHOULD CALCULATE THE BTU LOAD OF THE 4 " MAIN & PIPE TO IT ACCORDINGLY.0 -
I have a question...
It may be just fine, but I cannot tell just yet.
Do you know the connected EDR that would be served by the branch line in question?
Not saying that what you have will not work, but I would much rather give you an answer you can live with forever.0 -
What size
is your header? What make and model boiler?
