I finally installed a stat for
my radiant floor. It is a constant circ with VSI under Tekmar control. With single digits at night and above freezing days it just could not decide what temp water to use. It needed an Internet connection for the weather forecast as we were getting to warm at night. Generally the control has worked well with a little tweaking during swing seasons.
So I stuck a simple Honeywell digital on the wall which turns the power off to the VSI control. It appears to be working like an overtemp control. The outdoor reset varies the water temp and the stat prevents it from getting carried away when it is 4* outside.
Hard to decide where to locate that stat since every wall sees the radiant energy from the concrete floor. For a start it is on the bedroom interior wall which is 2 bricks thick and temp stable. Using a small fan to push more air around it changes the response. An experiment for sure.
