radiator air vents location

hi all.
I just finished one of dans three books, We've got steam heat.
in it he mentioned that radiator air vents for steam system should be on the opposite side of the supply valve.
The location should be half way down. 2 radiators in my house has the air vents about 1/4 of the way up from the bottom. Is this ok or should i have it tapped a bit higher?
Thanks!!

You will be just fine...
If your steam type air vent were too high (such as where a hot water air vent would go), the steam would shut the vent too soon and leave the lower quadrant of the radiator without steam.
Your lower vent means you will have that much more steam-filled radiation, a good thing.0 -
Thanks brad!

Thanks Brad.
I guess my next question would be, should I change the location of my other radiator vents towards the bottom of my rads?
the ones with high vents are heating up fully, should i even bother?
