Well, I just got the laptop and wireless internet for the work van, and I'm very excited.

I can take 5 minutes at the end of each call doing administrative work, rather than neglecting the 30-45 minutes at the end of the day which never gets done.

Now I have my complete customer database,accounts payable, accounts receivable, follow up work list, to do list, stock list, current stock price lists, etc,.. all at my fingertips. Not to mention my schedule. No more "I'll call you to schedule when I get back in the office"

With the wirless internet, I can show customers the various manufacturers websites, this one, etc as a selling tool.

I am positive that this investment will make me more productive, and organized.

Congratulations..Just beware that all that information coming to you...is being monitored by someone.

I just finished this months Mechanics Illustrated...and the article named "Who's Tracking You" made a lot of sense.

Ya gotta cover your behind...and make sure that things aren't being siphoned from your new "abilities"... Chris.

If it is billed like cell service, the company can track usage and locations.

I have both GPS and wireless in the company van... Worst part is we were the ones who had to install the GPS tracking devices in our vans!

Call it what you want....

BUT...When companies are tracking my **** and putting advertising on my laptop...BUSINESS LAPTOP for that matter...I'd be a bit suspicious of WHO ELSE is getting that information.

Maybe I am an alarmist...but what I don't EVER WANT TO BE A DAMN ADVERTISING FLIPPING BOT!...and that's what you're setting yourself up for.
Do what you want...I'll still be me, and lots less apt to be pushing the delete button on my personal devices to ...LOSE WEIGHT NOW...or better yet...EXTEND YOUR MANHOOD..., BUY VIAGRA...etc..

Don't be naive heatmiester...people will get what they need and want for SALES...no matter how hard you try to protect it.Chris

Norm did you get a printer for the van also? if so what is it and cost.about 6 weeks ago me and a co-worker went out on our own we did the lap top also bought the software,best thing we bought. invoice the costmer and it takes the parts we used out of our stock.
went into the supply house with lap top to reorder stock they could not get over it.

I do not understand why Your Company does not have the right to Know were there Van/Equipment and you are and what you are doing on Company paid time?? Unless something else is going on that "They" shall not know!...I never had a problem with That!

You may also think of it in a Positive matter:"They"will know how to plan your day better and reroute you more efficient if "They" can track your van;

Or if the Van gets Stolen "They" may be able to find it Quicker

Or:If the Van is sitting in front of a Bar for 2 Hours while the so called "service tech" is on a "Service Call" They will know and "Fire Them" so that it does not make "Us" (The Pros) Look bad..

As for the Advertising flipping Bot, what do you mean? Is that not something that you subject your self to when you watch TV,Listen to the Radio,Even sat radio, Go "Online" and even on this site? allthou it may be Advertising that may help you? just look at the sidelines of this site ,Or do you not see it anymore?
