GEOTHERMAL

This is my second Geothermal system for pool heating The pool is indoor and also needs dehumidification.

I was thinking if I have two heat pumps one is always in heating mode one always in cooling why would I need a well? The systems work best when loop field temps are low in cooling and high in heating. Why couldn't I just pipe both into a small buffer tank (loop field side)? Sure I would be heating the pool sometimes when I don't need it but with the long run times of pool heating and de humid system this should work great. I can use the pool as a heat dump if needed. The only thing I would have to do is make sure both units run at the same time.

The few people I spoke with think it will work great and system performance should be great also install cost down a lot.
what do you guys think

I am not sure the loads are equal. as in a lot more btu's needed to heat the pool than needed to cool the air for dehumidification. Laws of thermo dynamics say energy can not be created or destroyed only changed in state. Do you calcs and see. I think one side or the other will be out of sync. maybe loops that are laid over each other but sounds too good to be true for energy usaage. Crunch the numbers and prove other wise and I would be very happy to be wrong.
Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

Just looking at the heat pumps if I had the same GPM requirement on the loop field side this should work. Its possible that we would over condition the room a bit or over heat the pool but it should be possible to adjust that. The room needs to be a neg pressure so we can exhaust more air if needed and the poll a bit warmer wont hurt.

Or maybe business is slower then normal and I am over thinking

I did a few of these

in 78-82. It was in the Napa Valley and the heating and cooling degree days were about a push. The pools were not indoors. We would use a glazed solar system to heat the pool and use a good pool cover for the pool. Collector efficiency was very high with the low temps and we would supply the pool water to either a water to water or water to air HP. For cooling we would reject heat to the pool and not cover it at night so the temp would radiate to atmosphere.

The engineering spec gets a bit tighter with an indoor pool of course but I like the idea of the cusotmer putting the money into an indoor pool rather than a couple wells. I'd be interested to hear how it goes for you.
