Pump on return side- pics

A couple of weeks ago I asked about having the pump on the return side and how should be installed on my new boiler. The picture is attached. The new boiler is a Smith Hot Water Boiler GV100 W-5 HSI Boiler. Let me know what you guys think. Another thing would be if a chimney liner is needed. The chimney is lined with a clay flue.

When does the
new boiler go in? I take it this is planning time and not too urgent.
Also, where does the expansion tank connect? I am gathering that it is the small copper line in 100_1363.jpg. If so then you are pumping towards the expansion tank. There is sufficient opportunity on the suction side of your circulator to install one there unless you are going to wait for the new boiler install.
Now, the larger piping looks like an old gravity HW system. You would benefit from a P/S arrangement or a bypass.
The literature does say that it can be vented into a masonry chimney and clay tile is the least way you should go short of a new listed liner system. If in doubt, follow the manufacturer's literature.0 -
Hey Brad,
No, the new boiler has not been installed yet. Im looking for someone in the Easton, PA area that can install it. Im pretty handy, but I would leave this one up to the professionals as it is winter season and I cant afford to have no heat. I dont know if I should wait until the winter is over or get it installed now, but the new one is just sitting there waiting. If you know of anyone give them my email or if anyone reads this that can do the job please contact me.
The expansion tank is on the outlet side.
I had read in a couple of places that clay tile was ok for gas.
