Which ECM circ?

Wilo is a true ECM circulator and the Taco line as I understand them to be, are PSC (permanent split capacitor) motors.
ECM motors have permanent neodymium magnet rotors and are a General Electric patent which they license. They are DC power verus AC for PSC motors. (ECM motors have a built-in rectifier to convert AC to DC, so your primary current can be AC).
The ECM electrical savings is higher than PSC, even though both are variable speed and output and enjoy control applications inherent to variable speed. But they are not the same thing.

?
I'm curious about Wallie's preferences regarding ECM circulators. I've seen the WILO Stratos and the TACO "00VDT" series. Unless I'm mistaken, the WILO electronically maintains proper speed/flow and the TACO uses electronics including sensors on supply and return. Is that correct? If so, which do you prefer and why?
Thanks in advance, Adam0 -
!
Thank you Brad. Do you, or does anyone else have a local (Northern Jersey) source to buy the Wilo circulators as well as an online source? How many different models are there?
Thanks again, Adam0 -
Mark Hunt
is the best person to say. Mark works for Wilo so give him a shout.0 -
If you need an online supplier, try Patriot Supply in Plainview. If your a pro, call them, they can offer better pricing than whats posted online. They were very helpful in getting everything I needed for my system.
I'm sure Mark will know who is local to you.0 -

Hi Brad,
Thanks once again for your help. How would I find Mark Hunt?

Taco and Grundfos missed the boat
They are really scrambling trying to catch up to this technology. They do not have it on the market yet. Day late and many dollars short. They thought it would be fad. The time to save customers on energy on all level is here and now! Cheers to Wilo for being the leaders not the followers.0 -
I like Wilo....
but Grundfos is knocking on the door with product in hand (Magna series is out).
If you base your decision on price, Wilo wins hands down.
Grundfos has an interesting adaptive intelligence on board. Wilo needs to check out their competition... They're coming around the corner in a 4 wheel drift :-)
