I thought it was only "aluminum" or "stainless steel"

don't know about noritz
longevity, but i just demo/scraped for copper, a huge copper finned boiler that developed a severe leak after 20ish years0 -
or cast iron
like the mod con RAY boiler. Copper is a better conductor than aluminum or stainless. maybe with some alloy it could be ph tolerant?
