wood boiler

is important for the wood boiler. Many like the three way thermostaic valves, ESBE, etc. I like a variable speed circ to pulse the energy into the primary loop. Better controlability and return protection from one "devise"

My wood boiler has a fixed temperature snap dics 130- 140F control to fire the boiler pump. It actually works quite well for a 10 dollar control.

The buffer tank interface can get a little complicated to pipe and control. You need to be able to bypass the buffer on cold start, charge the buffer without pulling down the boiler temperature, and pull from the buffer when the fire goes out and the tank is still warm. Differential (solar) controls can work well for that.

I'm about to embark on revision 4 for my wood boiler system. I started with an open concrete buffer tank, now I'm using a 500 gallon LP tank.

I want to get some solar tied in as well as my solar Phoenix as back up.

Here are my thoughts, I'm open for ideas. Not quite as buffer friendly, but it will take two circs out of my 9 circ current system :)

    Buderus wood boiler

Working on wood and gas boiler system. Gas boiler is WM Ultra. The system is primary/secondary piping with boiler injection thru closely spaced tees. Two questions; 1- Does anyone see a problem with piping the wood boiler in the same manner as an Ultra? 2- Does it make a difference if I pump into or away from the wood boiler?  Any other advice or concerns or questions are welcome.

Don't you also want to include the storage 500 gallon tank for

your solar? So don't you want to add a three way valve and dump solar into the wood boiler storage.
I am going to repipe a wood gasification greenwood next week like you have shown. we are pulling out the factory thermostatic valve so we can lower the pump size on the wood furnace(open 2 atmosphere)

    I don't

have enough panel square footage to do much heating load. Yet :) I may consider adding tho the 500 gallon when I upsize. i'm just in the learning curve with the drainback method.
