Radiant Ceiling

We want to install radiant ceiling panels in the 2nd floor ceiling of a large old three story wood framed house. There is more than enough celing sq/footage for the heat loss. The building contractor is dropping the 9' high ceilings by a few inches with a "Chicago Grid" system.
We have done many ceiling jobs but not with this grid system.
Any recommendations regarding plates vs no plates or supports with this grid system
Thanks.

Whassa...
Chicago grid system?
Personally, when ever possible, I prefer the use of heat transmission plates.
We've done a couple of jobs with Roth panel that are working amazingly well. I have always said that I think radiant ceilings are one of the most missed radiant potentials in the world. No need to worry about floor finishes, can actually get more BTU/Sq Ft /hr than from a floor, and in most cases, the loss of 1-1/2" of ceiling height is easier to deal with than 1-1/2" loss of floor height.
And, you have an excellent opportunity to introduce radiant cooling if need be...
Got pictures of the chi town grid?
