I'm not sure dielectric unions are rated for 180F or higher temperatures?

Chances are when time comes to replace the boiler ot tank you'll be using a tubing cutter anyways :)

    dielectric unions/nipples

Installing an indirect HW tank, Smart-40, to a TT 110. Should I use dielectric unions/nipples at the tank connection? I'm using 1" copper tube between the boiler and the tank, but the circulator is in the loop also. Just wondering aloud. And I'd like the componants to last as long a possible.

    dialectric unions

I use 'em 'cause someday when I go back to service and/or replace the equipment, it makes my job easier. I don't use steel or copper unions, not because of the science, but because they have gaskets and I don't have to crank 'em as hard!
  • watts has two,

depending on gasket choice, temps; 180 & 300. and the only 'convincing' thing i've heard about dies is that if they happen to be placed in a water line that's also used for grounding, depending on where they're placed, they can disrupt the ground

    Dielectric Unions

I installed em on my Ma's water heater 14 years ago never a problem. Her boiler on the other hand nothing but problems with one and the other one is fine. My boiler and indirect have them also, had to tighten them on the boiler a couple of times but they are still there. I have not used dielectrics the last 2 years, instead I install bronze ball valves then copper or brass unions and have had no issues with this practice.
