Mixing Valve

Member Posts: 99
I have a TT 110 with a Smart 40 indirect. And I have been told that it would be in my best interest to increase the tank temp and add a mixing valve. Since the tank has not been piped in as yet, now is my best time to add this valve and piping. Any suggestions what would be the best way to set this up?

Yes that is good!
That is how i do it as well:I Increase the tank temp to 140 F so any decease gets "destroyed".
Then decrease the temp going out to the faucets to 125 F via a Antiscald valve so that no one gets burned/hurt
This setup gives you more water to dilute so your 40 gallon tank acts more like a 50/60 gallon tank..
I do not understand the question:>>>Any suggestions what would be the best way to set this up? <<<
Does your installer not know how to set this up? or are you questioning the "extra cost" on this setup??
Just for the record:I will not do it any other way!
I will and have lost jobs because "The other guy does not do this".. It is to much liability any other way and not worth it!
So your installer is actually a "Good Guy" and is watching out for your best interest.
Hope this helps..0 -
Heat Trap
Always add a heat trap to the hot supply before the mix valve piping. Which is a 36" drop in the supply pipe before it enters the valve. This will help prolong the life of the valve. Most manufactors show this in their piping instructions. There was an error rendering this rich post.

Thanks, Ed
I have heard of this importance, and I do intend to install it that way. I am a steamfitter, not a tech, and the piping is not a problem. Though the whys, wherefores and techy stuff sometimes gets in the way of piping out the equipment. Is there a specific mixing valve that is prefered?0 -
