Bias boiler question...

What is the reason for needing, or not needing, the 12"x12" Cera-fiber pad that Biasi has supplied, intermittently, with the trim-kits for the B-10 boilers? (I assume it is for cleaner combustion during low boiler return temps?)

    Hello, its been a while

How did you make out with that issue you were having with your Riello/Biasi?

    Hi Ron

Had it serviced the other day, the chamber was a mess.
The tech switched to a hollow nozzle--but the factory spec'ed one should have worked. At least this time he left it under 13% CO2 and not at #2 smoke :) I may do the tuneup myself next year. He mentioned adding a blanket in passing...

    Tweaking

Aside from tweaking the numbers and the smoke, how did you do with oil consumption?

I haven't gotten a fill up yet so I don't know my first year numbers yet.

It is hard to tell. The old multifuel boiler used a bit of oil, and had a K factor of 9.8 or so according to the old bills; and we were using electric DHW back then. Since the Biasi went in, my K factor is up to 15, and that now includes whatever oil is being used for the indirect tank. The savings have to be substantial. Hard to figure in gallons because of the DHW... He had the burner at 87% last spring, I'd guess it is around 84% now, according to my readings... I'll have to see what the difference is after a few more fill ups.
