Info on 1970's AO Smith hydronic boiler

Do any of you have information on running/repairing/specs on an old 1974 AO Smith hydronic boiler?

Something is wrong with ours and hubby (God bless him) is trying to fix the thing with no real information about it; I'm starting to get nervous (and cold) while we "try" stuff.

The pressure relief valve was leaking so he removed several pipes just to get at it & replace it. After refilling the system, it actually heated the house for one whole day. Now, the unit fires up, heats the water but none of the registers on the two floors above it even get to the 'pretty' warm stage. We'd love to get a decent manual that explains the system's requirements (and how to properly fill, etc). Anyone????
