Reducing steam heating season costs with heat pump

Are you aware of any comparison of home heating costs with a steam boiler vs. a Unico or Space Pak heat pump system run in the temperate periods when it is most effective and then turning over operation to the boiler when it is more effective. Qualitatively, it would seem the heat pump system combination would be more effective, but I am looking for hard data or a case study to support my hypothesis.

    Construction coeficient values will determine if you will be comfortable with the lower discharge air temps versus cast iron radiators that are too hot to sit on.
