baseboard vs convectors

when doing the math, are free standing convectors considered the same as baseboards? example: with the w-m ultra 3; "b. The heat emitters in the system must be finned tube baseboard only. Other emitters require changes in the U-control setup."
but, in their, 'system types and preset parameters', they don't list setup parameters for standing convectors

If the elements
are both "aluminum fins on copper tubes", I would consider them to be the same, thermodynamically speaking. Both share low mass and heat/cool at the same rate.
Both are technically convectors but by my definition a bona-fide convector is a more concentrated form of fin-tube with a 4",6" or 8" wide element and a much taller cover.
Now, in terms of the W-M literature, I do not know the context to which they are referring.
