I'm a homeowner chasing a problem with an indirect hot water line. Seems there is no flow check in the line from the boiler to the tank, so the water is heated whenever a post-purge is run, maybe even when either of three heating zones call, cranking the potable temp up past 155'F! I'd like to swap the Taco 0010 for the same model with an integrated flow check, but the pump is installed pointing down (arrow points to ground, pump is next to 'boiler in' of tank). Will the IFC still function against gravity?

Sorry, newbie here, and I don't want to take the whole lineset apart (ie: lazy, too, looking for the easy way out).

    Thanks for any advice!

    yes, it will work

the flow check doesn't care which direction the flow is. the only possible problem; it might be difficult to purge the system

Or you could plumb a mixing valve in after the indirect... Safer for the kids and most (all) manufacturers recommend they be installed.

    Tony, Joe, Brian,

Thanks for the replies. I will be using the IFC, but will also invest in the mixing valve for full temp protection (already have temp limit on shower simmons valve, but nothing else).
