Pressuretrol help.

catch-22
unfortunately the standard pressuretrol is not very accurate at the lowest pressures, so you will have to experiment a bit with a good low pressure gauge [0-5 psi], and see how low you can go.
the investment of a couple of Franklins in a vaporstat would be well worth the expense, in my opinion. you could really regulate the pressure in ounces. the only drawback to this is the inevitable cycling of the burner as the vaporstat keeps the pressure in the selected range of 2-10 ounces.
the payback is more comfort and speed [assuming the system is properly vented ].if you opt to install the v-stat right away then get a 0-15 oz. gauge.if you wish to experiment with the pressuretrol you have, get a 0-5 psi gauge to avoid overpressuring the lower gauge.
later when you get tired of the old pressuretrol, and replace it, you can get the 15 oz. gauge at that time and give the 5 psi gauge to someone else.--nbc

    Pressuretrol

Hi. I am in desparate need for assistance on my pressuretrol.
If the differential is subtractive and is set to say .5psi and the Main is set to 2.
As soon as my pressure in the siphon gauge reaches 2.5 (combination of both) my boiler should cut off correct?

    Please help.
    thanks

No. Your boiler will shut off at 2psi and then come on at 1.5psi, which is 2-0.5.

    Thanks,

Steve, thanks. I am now armed with the info i need to go back to contractor.

The unit's pressure goes to 5psi before shutting off. NOW I DEFINATELY KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG.
  • low pressure

set the pressure as low as possible.under 16 ounces is better-under 10 oz. is best.
    cut-out 10 oz.
    dif cut in 4 oz.
remember less [ pressure] is the new more.--nbc

NBC, you are speaking in terms of ounces, how does that translate to PSI on the pressuretrol?
sorry, i not that advance in heating terms.
