because i stay up too late; please forgive my faulty Subject title.
Here is what I created for a geothermal set up; I did need some help with the metal; it would take me forever to do this radius stuff. It's insulated inside with 1" foam rubber.

My 'showroom'
I don't think I ever posted my 'baby' here before. I have a primary loop above to I can have different heating appliances. I have a Buderus BE125 that I just started today, also close-space-teed into the primary. I have about 8000 sq ft worth or radiant, but primarily only use/heat about 4500 sq ft. I have a Waterfurnace Envision heating/cooling the offices, and a basement and bonus room upstairs that is not being conditioned yet. Gary

and solar too
We have 20 tubes on the roof, I may add another 20 (or more) if I can muster the energy to install another tank for thermal heating. Gary

Viessmann
Should use your install in their literature. Sweet...0 -
Nice!!
Nice looking work, Gary.
I notice you didn't use a low loss header. Did you install the larger Vitodens (I presume it's the 11-44) for faster DHW production?

Hi Paul,
Because of my desire to have a 'master' loop running around the showroom, the thought of one more circ in the equation wasn't making sense to me, and the aesthetic element was important too (simple/clean). Once I have the wiring done on the Buderus I'll post some more pics, at that point you'll see the HK-1 control operating one of the two shop floors. The rest of the hydronics pipe off the primary behind the geo system and head to the basement where there is a 'wall of stuff' for the other shop floor, the future basement heating, and the future second floor heating, and lastly the hi-temp radiators in the showroom and the future ice-melt system for the sidewalk. Why HK-1? Because if I want to run oil or a future geo water to water, or if I want to fill up my roof with solar (thermal heat), I can shut off the heating mode on the Vito and run whatever i want. It's a really expensive toy room is what it is.
The 11-44; I was on the fence between this and the 8-32. If I ever outgrow this joint and move again, I would want enough heat to bring the whole building up to 70 or whatever (we keep the shop areas around 50 or so now). The grand total is 8,000 sq feet between the basement and the small unfinished second floor room.

Silver Spoon
Dave, no lottery, I just borrowed money the old fashioned way. I piggybacked my home to buy the land 4 years ago, then the land became my collateral. The only "free ride" I'm getting is an interest free loan from a wealthy loved one when my building loan became short (this isn't even including the show room stuff, although the geothermal system was figured in the original budget). Long story....., no real long story.
The boiler room toys... somehow we stayed in the black enough as I kept picking away at all these systems (there is a fair amount of money tied up in my toy room).
I hope you can come by some time for a tour!

Gary,
Please don`t take offense to what I said!
My "lottery" comment was tongue in cheek,,,
You must have a great biz with excellent employees,,, but be careful.
I have seen many lose everything by going hog-wild with advertising & TV commercials.
Keep a level head, and I look forward to visiting your shop!

You are an inspiration Gary
I am in the process of building things back up and growing. I'd love to see the joint someday. Mad Dog

yea, aggressive I'm not
I'm an old Yankee at heart, my Grandfather who shaped me was as old school as they come, very very conservative. I've learned though to make money you have to spend it, and no risk = no reward. I just need some cold snap to get the schedule maxed again!

Very true my man,,
Grandpa was very smart, but times are very different in our generation. Things in the heating biz are not as cut & dry as they used to be,, and competition is fierce, even amongst trade orientated friends.
Mother Nature is another thing not helping much these days,, I wish you the best of luck,, but be careful!
