2 pressure controls required?

Hi, I just recently converted to gas from oil. The new boiler is a Burnham IN8 gas fired steam boiler. It comes already with an operating pressure control. I was told that another high limit pressure control needs to be installed. Is that necessary and what are the difference between them? Thanks.

2 pressuretrols
yes you need 2 of them.1 pressuretrol will regulate the system pressure, and keep it between 2 points [.5 and 1 psi]
the second one has a reset button on it, and will shut down the boiler, until reset, if the pressure rises above a preset limit, before it damages any other part of the system with excessive pressure, which in a properly functioning system is not that high.mine is set to 2.5 psi.
i am surprised that the installer of this system "forgot" to put this on. what else he may have "forgotten" to do is hard to tell.
you would benefit from a copy of dan's "lost art of steam heating" available here.--nbc0
