    Steam boiler strange CO

Just one more thing to think about. We had an odor call from the fire dept. We found no gas leak but did have 20ppm CO in upstairs apts. CO was coming from the one pipe steam radiator air vents at 400ppm. Room at 60 stat set at 80. Our tech went to the basement with the firefighter, opened the boiler room door and saw a glowing orange dry firing steam boiler. So next day discussion, is the CO from what's in the bottom of the sections, like sludge and boiler chemicals being heated to 1700 degrees or so or is it from the flue side getting into the water side because of dry fire heat damage? Main thing no one hurt and no bld. fire. But, really weird CO source.
