Can I use this tank?

I have an old 115 gal water heater that was used as a storae tank for a solar hot water system. I was going to use it in the same application, but have relized that the glass lining is in bad shape. I do however, need a buffer tank on my heating system and was thinking that if the tank is used in a closed system it would not rust. I am wondering if anyone thinks this will be a problem. I hate to trash the tank if I can use it.

Why Risk It?
If the lining is in bad shape, that is all I need to know about that tank.
Even if 150 PSI rated when new, knowing what you know, all bets are off. I would not store air in that tank, lest someone else find it and put it to an inadvisable use.
Remember, Nature sides with the Hidden Flaw.

I would not....
... For the reason for doing double work. How much would you save? Liner material flowing around causing havoc ?There was an error rendering this rich post.
