HVAC cookbook

I have an idea for another ‘gimmick’ that may be a useful marketing tool for HVAC contractors. The idea was inspired by a recent thread here where I asked people to list their favorite Thanksgiving meal side dishes.

My idea is to find recipes that are quick and cheap but I am not sure where to set the limits. Does quick mean one hour or less? 30 minutes or less? 15 minutes or less? Does cheap mean $20 or less? $10 or less? $5 or less?

I’d like feedback from everyone and anyone as to what they think would be fast and cheap and then if you think you have a recipe that would fit into both, please send that to me, too. The recipe should be a main dish that would feed at least four people. I would also entertain recipes for desserts, too, although those may comprise a smaller part of the HVAC cookbook.

If there is enough interest, I would explore self-publishing a small book that could be a leave-behind for contractors to give to their own customers, which could be personalized to each individual business.

It may give consumers a reason to view the HVAC trade as something other than “those heating guys” and be a unique marketing piece.

Let me know if you think the idea will fly or if it is a real turkey. I have thick skin. Please reply to ideaperson@ideaperson.net. Thanks!

    I am in...

I have a few "favorites" including a false alarm chili with chocolate, (one "Builds It", one does not "Cook It"), but also some really simple buttermilk scones recipes. My Susan also makes (among so many good things), chocolate meringue cookies. All flavor, no fat; egg whites, cocoa, sugar, walnuts and some leavening. She is an honorary wallie, so I think we can fit one of her recipes in there.

    For a good cause? Absolutely.

Forget the various and sundry "Walks for Hunger", 10K for this and that. I mean, fine, good causes, but I want full disclosure. Give me the "Waddle for Obesity" and we will talk.... :)

    So many good causes.
