Effikal Damper Lifespan

the recall notice I recieved here in the U. S. regarding these vent dampers appeared much less urgent, in fact Effikal is not even paying to have the dampers inspected, only for thier replacement.
Component quality is reaching new lows. I believe this is the second vent damper recall in just the past few years.....I am getting rather sick of it. I am trying to avoid installing any drafthood models any more....they cost too much!

The Effical damper on my boiler seems to be on its way out, the damper will open/close, but won't make the connection after opening or just partially make and not have a good enough connection for the ignitor to start.

How long are these supposed to last? I've got a Field Controls part on order but is it just the same mechanism with a different label?

I guess my real question is how hard can it be to make a part that will last the life of the boiler, especially considering the price point is far above the cost of the components and they are SIMPLE parts.

    Vent damper

We see the Effical dampers last 2-10 years. There is also a recall that you should be aware of. Go to "Resources" and "Heating Alerts"...scroll down to Effical.

    while your issue

seems separate than this notice - I would still check with your supplier/gas inspection agency for clarification. It seems that this notice is very regional in application.

Thanks, but I already got the new part coming. My luck yours would end up lasting 7 years and 1 day anyway...
