    Any luck this season?

It has been a fun season so far. My son shot his first deer this year with his Granpa's rifle. I have filled a few tags. We will have some great hot sausage and smoked meat from our harvest. No wall hangers so far but once it is in 1" cubes in the freezer for grinding later it really does not matter. Great memories and lots of family bonding time!

I know the Ebel clan took some fine bucks last year. How is every one else doing this year?

    Jealous

Front end repairs are expensive, Darin! Here in MA, they only allow taking deer automobiles but only without airbags! Then they send you in for deer sensitivity training. :)

Great memories for you and Anthony, Darin. Granpa would be proud to see his rifle passed on so well.

Something about venison, bagging your own, that so bonds one to the earth.

So glad you are taking, no, making, the time.

    Nice

    Glad Anthony took one!

    I got mine on Halloween.

Tried to pull a fast one and almost got away with it.

    Almost.

Here in Northern Ohio (Sandusky to be exact), the deer have been a little smaller than normal. Not many bucks are being seen, so the ladies are a last resort. No matter what the size. Congrats on the first one.

Pictures of Mark's trip into the woods

    Day One: Doesn't see anything?

Day Two: That's a very smart deer!

Day Three: Man, it's a long ride home...

    Food for thought.

If you wait, the oppurtunity may pass. Go on the hunt, then decide how much the great experience and the memories are worth. I had my two oldest sons along for the elk,my oldest along for the sheep and would not trade any of the time or experiences for all the boiler installs in the world. Just do it! Bryan

Snuck away with OPA for 2 days

Saw a few doe, but no doe tags in this DMU, OPA took several spikes on LOng Island. Nothing matches this monster he got 2 seasons ago, MadDog

    Maine deer hunting

Kill is way off as the winter took its toll on the herd.
Went out opening day and saw a nice fat doe but no permit. Was supposed to get out this week but came down with a bad cold and had to stay home. Heading to camp after TDay dinner and then two weeks of muzzleloader season.....wonder if I can put off those 3 steamer change outs.....nah. Getting cold up hea' in the big wood.
    Happy holidays.

A hunting we will go.. A hunting we..............

Son Matthew and yours truly both got a standard Michigan 8 pt. Drew saw 3 bucks the first day but they were all deemed too small for his standards. Many hot dogs, sloppy Joes and cans of beans were consumed in my blind.

I have a journal I keep there and everyone who uses it is told to make some entries and note what is going on with the deer, weather and whatever else is going on. Here is a quote made by Melissa, Drew's girlfriend. This is verbatim from her entry:

6:10 AM Nov 20 MMMmmmm Vienna franks and Bush's Baked beans, Breakfast of Champions.

7:50AM Andy has incredible gas. I don't know if I'll make it out alive.
