two thermostatus, one zone?

I have a monoflow system that delivers to two floors. I looked into splitting the zone, but it was very expensive. I am thinking of installing a second thermostat on the second floor to control overnight. In theory this should work. Is there a better option?
Thanks,
Mike

It doesn't work very well. It's like having two light switches control one light bulb. If you wire them in series, both have to be turned on for the light to work. Turning one on does nothing. If you wire them in parallel, either can turn it on, even for the area that doesn't want it on.0
