high temp vs outdoor reset

I am instaling a condensing boiler on a baseboard system with indirect and heat exchanger for pool. My question is do I run heat exch as high temp zone or let it run off outdoor reset? Pool is indoors w/ constant temp.

Priority
I would run the heating loop on outdoor reset, for sure. It may require a mixing valve to avoid spikes and keep her steady.
The domestic and pool I would have on priority, either shared or tiered with domestic leading.
Check your pool HX and see what the actual profile is at various temperatures. It may work at lower than you think but take longer to heat. That is OK as far as condensing is concerned.
OR, you can get a larger HX designed for the lower temperatures.
But baseboard can most certainly run with ODR. Your ratio of BBR to Heat Loss will dictate what your high-end temperature is. It may well be a lot lower than you think!0 -
Thanks for the input. If I give hx priority w/dwh than boiler will treat hx as high temp zone if I want to run it on outdoor reset I need to treat it as heating loop. Boiler only has spots for dwh & heating t-stat0 -
Pool heating
a FPHX used for pool heating is a med or high temp application. This is not the best way to go when trying to make the most of a condensing boiler. Pool heating will be enabled more than the RFH load, and the boiler will rarely condense. Often pool boilers are independent of the heating load for these very reasons. Small lap pools or spas may be the exception. One of my clients has an indoor lap pool heated by an oil-fired boiler which also does the RFH and wall panel rads. He says the lap pool consumes 60% of the load. when the setpoint is 85. I'd be careful about using a condensing boiler for this application.
