Fantastic, neat and clean work, Mad Dog! Great to hear "Outstanding Client" Stories like that. She fed you... so cool.
I love the simplicity of line, the progression from power to boiler to water and how you concealed the wiring so nicely behind the board.
Something to be proud of, both you and your client, this Thanksgiving.

You guys know how I feel about The Steam.................but
The times they are a changin' and if we don't do it someone else will. This is a job we just wrapped yesterday...right on the dealine. Kim, the owner and architect is having 23 people over for dinner. This is a job that will be in phases but eventually have 8 zones: Radiant wood, wet mud job zones, and has Buderus Panel rad zones. She is even open to solar integration down the line. My Village just approved solar! She is very fussy and that is why she wanted us. She is VERY, VERY happy and so are we. She was an OUTSTANDING client. Fed us every day!!!!! Mad dog0 -

I got to ask....
how well will the radiant work w/ the taco 5000 mix valves and the modulating temps on the GB142? I have had mixed luck w/ that set up... seems they get confused w/ the temp outputs.0 -

AsI drove past her house last night
after dropping off Great Uncle Leo, I thought about the job and all the guests she was having over. All of Kim's Uncles and both granfathers are either engineers, old Brooklyn Navy Yard pipefitters and the like."LIVING DEADMEN" as I call them couldn't wait to see the mechanical room. As Uncle Brian and I had our night cap in town at The Pub...a text message came thru from Kim saying: "...you passed the toughest inspectors yet....the old krauts took a long look and simply said BEAUTIFIL!" That felt good REAL good. Mad Dog

I like the little blue indirect but in my experience (using the sensor supplied with the GB) I was a bit disappointed to find that I could get ahead of the recovery a bit. While the pairing can provide continuous production for an average shower draw, it seem to have some minor catch up issues. Maybe the sensor should be a bit higher in the tank, because the system sometimes seems a bit slow to recognize that it needs to go into full throttle recovery.
One performance merit to larger tank sizing: In the summer shorter cycle lengths(from small storage tanks) mean more boiler stranded BTU's, larger tanks have higher standby losses but I suspect that heat stranded in the boiler from frequent cycles is an equally important factor in overall efficiency.0
