Radiant Heat pump

I have radian heat in my kitchen floor which is 160 sq/ft. It is one long loop. The water pump is a TACO-007 F5. The floor gets nice and warm on one side and lukewarm at best on the other side. Can I change the pump to correct the solution. I was told that I could go to 009 or 0011 to fix the problem...

well
the first problem is you have radiant heat... how come nobody can ever install it properly... if i were you i'de be where'n the guy that installed it like a cheap suit...lol.. anyway to bad Mr. Levitt didn't have pex tubing 50 years ago... there wouldn't be any slab leaks... but at least he piped it correctly and nobody had a problem with there radiant heat in levittown except for slab leaks lol unbelievable if he only had pex tubing...0 -
purge the air out of the loop first. even at 6" o.c., with a dedicated pump, 160 wouldn't be a loop that was too long. you must have flow restriction in there somehow.0 -
Faster water?
How long is that one loop? What size pex pipe?
A bigger pump will move your water faster but it won't necessarily carry your heat any further. Your heat carrying capacity is limited by the size of the pipe. You can move that same amount through faster with a larger pump but that won't get it any further out there.
You could warm that one side up quicker with a larger pump!0 -
heat
The tubing is 1/2 inch.
So the larger pump will work? I assume if there is a kink in the line i have big problems.0 -
LOOP
the flooring is 160 sq/ft, the looping is every 6-8inches that covers the 160 sq/ft and then about 30 feet to the furnace. So I would assume the tubing is at least double or even triple the 160...0 -
Length
Depending on the tube manufacturer Matt some of them stamp numbers on the pipe every three feet or so. You have to do a little math but you should be able to come up with a total length.
If you're even twice the square footage for linear feet of pipe that's really pushing the max length. Is this a DIY job? Is the piping still accessable?0 -
even 400 feet, with a dedicated pump, is not a problem in a regular heating application.
this is the only radiant area, right?0 -
only area
Yes, this is the only radiant area. It was done by a contractor who left before completion of entire job. Tubing is already set in floor and tiled on top of it. I was just hoping to get an equal heat distribution on the floor. I cannot find a radiant heat specialist in my area.
Say the total tubing is at 400 feet is the TACO-007 big enough. Would that be a problem? or would a larger one help in the matter. The water going into the floor is hot and the reutnr is lukewarm..
