If you are setting the temp back at the T'stats it will take longer to recover from setback periods and may never. You can setback from the ODR on many controls

New Boiler with Outdoor Reset Question

    Hello Everyone,

I recently replaced my 48 year old oil fired boiler with a Biasi B4 with an outdoor reset. It seems to take longer to get the heat up to temperature in my home. Is this common with the new smaller boilers, or is this happening because of the outdoor reset controls? Thank you.

    Mike,

Michael, what is your distribution ? Is it baseboard and if so how much do you have ? What kind of ODR control do you have ? There may be a way to adjust it.

    Yup, ODR

will extend the recovery time especially when it is warmer outside.

Some systems, even 25 years ago (my old Centra control on a Burnham 204) had a "morning boost" feature whereby it would over-ride (ignore) the indexed reset temperature and supply hotter water to speed recovery, then go back to weather responsive control.

I do not know the Biasi particulars, but when I fitted the ODR kit to my Monitor MZ, the recovery race would be won by a glacier.

To get around this, I installed a parallel thermostat directly to the TT on the boiler set for 30 minutes before occupancy. Makes a difference.

    New Boiler

I have approximately 145 square feet of forced water baseboard. The Biasi B10-4 has a Taco EXP with PC-700 reset. I really have no idea how the out door reset works I just know they save oil. Adjusting the heat from the thermostat takes a lot longer to raise the inside temperature.
